It’s probably possible to write the perfect book.
Or at least a book which falls within a certain range of qualities sufficiently to become a long-lasting work of fiction.
How do you create the perfect book? It would have to be magical, leaps and bounds beyond anything you have imagined. Even if your imagination is pretty good.
You could learn how to have the best story in the world. There might be no day that goes by when someone doesn't comment on how wonderful your work is. You could discover where to set it, when to introduce your characters, the magical ingredients that will give your scenes bigger dramatic impact than you ever thought possible, and the secrets of how to compete in professional competitions and win time and time again. All by understanding the fundamental laws and techniques which underlie successful fiction.
You could master the strategy of minimal effort for maximum results. Just a few short minutes in a day for about three months will give you a story others might be talking about for years to come.
You could master the secrets of chapter and scene arrangements and how to have your works last long after others are forgotten.
You could discover how to get every member of your family involved with this project; how to keep writing even when you “don't have the time”, how to use the story as a springboard to other stories, how to be the envy of every author around.
Imagine the pleasure you could get when you name a story and know that that name that will be around for generations to come.
You could learn how to do it all.
There's literally no end in sight with this outline for your book’s future. If I was going to write a book, this is the one I'd want to write.
Start with an outline so extreme, so magical, that anyone would think themselves mad to not get your book. Start with a magic wand. Then, once you've created an outline that's nothing short of amazing, start writing.
(And here’s the first -and in some ways the most important- secret, all yours for free: don’t stop writing until you have reached at least 200 pages.
That’s 200 pages.
ONLY THEN pause and turn back and begin editing and correcting.
Trust me -that’s the best piece of advice I was ever given, and I’m passing it on to you so that you will have some hope of ever achieving what we’re talking about.)
