I'm honoured to add to this website the following book by E. R. Cooper, a multi-talented author from California.
The Venice Apartment and Other Stories
The
author says: "The three pages are from a story called 'Adagio', about a
love-triangle that takes place in Paris and Rome. It involves a
painter, a singer and his mistress, and is very loosely based on the
turn-of-the-century love-triangle between Auguste Rodin, Camille
Claudel and Rodin's 'sometime wife', Rose Beuret...rather inspired by
this true-life story, than based upon it, plot-wise. Another story,
named 'Cacountala' (also reflective of the same fusion between that
same artist's work and life), includes a symbolic image, in the form of
a gesture, between lovers, that replicates Claudel's sculpture, or
seeks to do so, at the end of the story."
Here's a sample page:

The
book was published in 2006, and the author has given readings from, and
lectures about, the production of it (specifically about the
relationship between editors and writers, women's publishing and
aesthetic elements of artistic inspiration) at the International
Women's Writing Guild, in New York, at Scandinavia House (October 2006)
and the San Francisco Writer's Conference (Feb. 2005). It has appeared
at the London Book Festival, as well (April 2007), and was reviewed in
the Wadham College, Oxford Gazette (2007), Daily Information (Oxford)
and Women Writers Magazine.
