HOMESCHOOLING!
Our Philosophy
The Inner Circle Writers' Group believes that the traditional approach to education is lacking in something.
Education is usually defined as “the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university” or “the theory and practice of teaching” but it comes from the Latin word educat- ‘led out,’ from the verb educare, related to educere ‘lead out’, which is the opposite, it seems, of a “process of receiving” and would seem to imply that learning should be an act of reaching out rather than taking in.
The Inner Circle Writers' Group takes this on board. Here, we don’t separate out “education” from just living. Where living is about reaching out, so is learning.
The word “learn”, by the way, means to become aware of something by information or from observation, which seems closer to the real point.
People who learn with us are engaged in a two-way activity, a shared exploration. Our only right to attempt to “educate” you is merely that we have perhaps read a little more, experienced some things, and developed ways of getting you interested in things for yourself.
At the Inner Circle Writers' Group we believe that acquiring knowledge should be something that occurs in life, not just during formal education.
The Inner Circle Writers' Group Homeschool
The Inner Circle Writers' Group Homeschool is an independent tutoring and literacy programme for children and adults offering educational guidance up to and including A Levels. Students are accepted from the age of 12.
The Inner Circle Writers' Group Homeschool was founded in 2005 and works to add educational value no matter what the variables, within the resources of a homeschool support service.
We accept and welcome children from all over the world and of all races, religious denominations and creeds via the internet. If you join us because you want to learn and you’re prepared to work or study and abide by our codes of conduct, we can achieve wonders.
First, we’ll attempt to isolate any barriers preventing you from learning, and provide precise tools to deal with them. Inner Circle Writers' Group members usually rapidly become self-motivated students, and when that happens, all kinds of things are possible. You can learn to avoid or correct study problems yourself and, as a result, become a self-regulated, independent, life-long learner.
At the Inner Circle Writers' Group, throughout your programme you are given regular interviews and information sessions to provide more understanding of what life is really like. We’re not just interested in you passing tests or even getting better grades -though you probably will do much better academically with our approach- we want you to do well as the person you are.
